A copy should be sent as soon as possible after the conference to all those who attended or were invited to attend, including family members, except for any part of the conference from which they were excluded. This is in addition to sharing the main decisions within one working day of the conference (see paragraph 5.102). The record is confidential and should not be passed by professionals to third parties without the consent of either the conference chair or the lead social worker. However, in cases of criminal proceedings, the police may reveal the existence of the notes to the Crown Prosecution Service in accordance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act 1996. The record of the decisions of the child protection conference should be retained by the recipient agencies and professionals in accordance with their record retention policies.
