Safeguarding children who may have been affected by gang activity
This national guidance was published in March 2010. It aims to
- aid understanding of the nature of risk that gang activity poses to children
- identify how signs of gang involvement may manifest themselves
- provide guidance on responding effectively to the needs of children and young people – girls and young women, and boys and young men – at risk of gang-related violence and harm.
- assist agencies when working together to prevent young people from being drawn into gangs
- appropriately identify, refer and support those who have been drawn into the margins of gangs
- protect those who are at immediate risk of harm either as members or victims of gangs.
