Key points
A child protection conference can be requested by anyone working for an agency represented on the Local Safeguarding Children Board. If a social work manager decides to not call a case conference, those professionals who are most involved with the child and family, and who have taken part in the child protection enquiry, have the right to request a conference if they disagree with this decision [WTSC 5.78]
How to do it
A child protection conference can be requested by a social work manager who will contact the independent reviewing officer responsible for chairing child protection conferences. The meeting should be held within 15 working days of the strategy discussion that initiated the s47 enquiries.
