Cheshire East Local Safeguarding Children Board

Cheshire East Local Safeguarding Children Board is a partnership of agencies set up to co-ordinate and ensure the effectiveness of services to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in the area of the authority. This includes arrangements across agencies for Child Protection Systems.

The LSCB is a ‘statutory body’ which is required to exist by Section 14(1) of the Children Act 2004 and Local Safeguarding Children regulations 2006. All of its work is directed by the Government’s publication ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children: a guide to inter-agency working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children (March 2010).

This is driven by our vision that every child and young person in Cheshire East should be able to grow up safe from maltreatment, neglect, accidental injury or death, bullying and discrimination, crime and anti-social behaviour.

Our Mission states that “We will work together to ensure that where children are harmed, or at risk of harm, all agencies will actively cooperate to safeguard them and promote their welfare.”
