Should I Talk to the Child?

Summary

1.    Listen to the child and reassure them

2.    Record conversation

3.    Pass information to Children’s Social Care

 

If the child makes an allegation or discloses information which raises concern about significant harm, this should be listened to.  The child should be reassured and informed that the information will be passed to Children’s Social Care.

  • A record of all conversations and actions must be kept.
  • No enquiries or investigations may be initiated without the authority of Children’s Social Care or the Police.
